    Cartagenastreet

Spent the afternoon strolling the perfectly preserved colonial streets. It's a Sunday, so we struggled to find anywhere open for lunch. Eventually turned a corner and found a chap selling giant big egg filled dough balls and tropical squash in a bag. Job done!

Wonderful shady surroundings, just back from the main street: spectacular succulent steak, delicious daiquiris and marvellous mojitos.

Really ace design too, kind of Moroccan/Colombian/French fusion and all the better for that

Dinner for two (though all Chelle had was a plate of fish fritters): 50,000 Copas (£17.50, US$25, AU$29)

    Aguila

We've visited a dozen countries this year, tasting some truly brilliant beers and some absolute shockers.

Colombia's finest, Aguila (eagle in Spanish) certainly falls into the former category: deliciously flavoursome.

Brewed by the Bavaria Brewery: a Colombian brewery company founded in April 4, 1889 by Leo S. Kopp, a German immigrant.

After skipping the hassles of Cartagena, we've been enjoying fresh fish on the beach in dusty old Taganga, a fishing village just over the hill from Santa Marta on the Caribbean coast. The village is a refuge for lost souls and the majority of tourists are Israeli's kicking back after military service. The food is super fresh (last night we watched the local teens pull a huge haul out the sea).

We had some fun ordering at Kiosko 7 but ended up with a very tasty fish and a shellfish combo. Yummy...

    Lunch for two: 40,000 Copas (£14, US$20:30, AU$23)
